Why are some varieties of edible nuts (ie cashew nuts) more expensive than others, (ie monkey nuts)?

There are greater supplies of some nuts compared to others. Also, some nuts, cashews in particular, require more hand labor to process. These things, plus shipping and other factors, all affect relative costs.
