DS lite hinge cracked.?

So what now? It's an older DS lite. When the black and pink were first introduced so its a 2006 model. Played so much the interior material changed color. Took 5 years but the hinge finally cracked right next to the power indicator light due to the design flaw Nintendo didn't want to admit to but did anyway and used to offer free repairs. Since it is from that time period would it still be fixed for free or do I have to pay them $80 to fix it? Or just live with it until the entire side falls out? Because for $80 I can just get another one.
